1. Exfoliate:  The first step to a flawless self-tan is to remove the dead skin cells to prevent the skin from looking blotchy and darker in areas.  When you even-out the skin tone, your tan will also look even.

2. Moisturize:  For smooth color application, use a generous amount of hydra-lifting moisturizer for the face and oil for legs and arms.  This moisture provides the skin with the "slippage" needed to distribute the tanning solution evenly without streaks.

3. Apply Sun Protection:  Choose a sun block that eliminates UVA and UVB rays.  (UVA is what causes long-term damage, and UVB causes the immediate burn/tan damage.)  Eva recommends Yonka Ultra Protection SPF 25 for dehydrated skin.  For oily skin, she recommends an oil-free sunblock such as Anthelios LX  Fluide Extreme SPF 50 by La Roche-Posay.

4. Apply Self-Tanner: Proper application is the key to an even-looking tan. Use even strokes to cover the area and apply until it has absorbed into the skin (don't leave wet spots.) Avoid application on knees, elbows, and the tops of the hands.  Allow to dry completely and reapply a second coat if you want a deeper color.  Eva likes Yonka Auto-Bronzant, or Sally Hanson "Airbrush" tan.

5. Dust on Shimmer or Bronzer:  This top powder sets the tanner in place and adds an instant, natural glow.  You can use a bronzer on the face and body shimmer on the body.
